Course description
In Badminton 101, players will learn some basic skills in badminton. The course consists of 5 themes including how to hold rackets correctly, how to do services, footwork, different shots in badminton as well as improving consistency in badminton shots.
Targeted players are those who want to start some training for badminton and want to improve your basic techniques. No previous experience with badminton is also welcome.
Expected learning outcomes: 1) Get familiar with basic techniques in badminton such as service, grips, footworks, and shots; 2) Improve the consistency in shots and movements of players
Training session structure
A training session includes 3 main activities of which they are equally important and fun: 1) Warm-up; 2) Training; and 3) Games.
The Warm-up will be 15-20 mins where players get the body ready and warm. In addition, exercises in the warm-up are strongly supporting the development of motorskills and flexibility which are essential in badminton. The Training (40-45 mins) will provide guidance about different themes as mentioned in the course content. The Game (ca. 20 mins) will be the part where players can apply what they have learned in the game.
Course + membership fees
The course will be on every Sunday from 15:30 - 17:00. First session will be on 31/08 and the last will be (tentatively) on 7/12.
The course fee will be 100 EUR for Tervasulka members, invoiced through myClub in September.
If you are not yet a member of Tervasulka, you will become a member of the club when you register for this group. New members will be charged a one-time joining fee of 20€. Additionally, all members will be required to pay a membership fee (40€ for calendar year 2025). Both fees will be invoiced later through myClub (likely in September).
Practical info
Used feather shuttlecocks will be used during the training and the coach will provide the shuttlecocks for the training. You also need to bring your own racket, suitable clothes, shoes (indoor sport / badminton shoes, no sneakers or other shoes designed for outdoor use), a bottle of water, and maybe a sweat towel. If you're thinking about what equipment to buy, it is recommended to invest in good badminton shoes before buying the best racket.
