Course description
This course is the continuation of Badminton 102 which was held in Spring 2025. In Badminton 201, there are 2 main focuses: 1) advanced techniques and 2) tactical decision and strategy in game play. As in previous 101 and 102 course, the course will also cover and help players to develop these following areas: footwork, different shots in badminton, and improving consistency along with shot selection in different situations.
Targeted players are those who completed Badminton 101 and 102 or already know some basics about badminton techniques and want to improve your techniques and game play.
Expected learning outcomes: 1) Develop some advanced techniques in badminton while strengthen the footwork and shots; 2) Improve the consistency in shots and movements of players, 3) Develop some tactics in games
Training session structure
A training session includes 3 main activities of which they are equally important and fun: 1) Warm-up; 2) Training; and 3) Games.
The Warm-up will be 15-20 mins where players get the body ready and warm. In addition, exercises in the warm-up are strongly supporting the development of motorskills and flexibility which are essential in badminton. The Training (40-45 mins) will provide guidance about different themes as mentioned in the course content. The Game (ca. 20 mins) will be the part where players can apply what they have learned in the game.
Course + membership fees
The course will be on every Saturday from 11:30 - 13:00. First session will be on August 23 and the last will be (tentatively) on December 6.
The course fee will be 100 EUR for Tervasulka members, invoiced through myClub in September.
If you are not yet a member of Tervasulka, you will become a member of the club when you register for this group. New members will be charged a one-time joining fee of 20€. Additionally, all members will be required to pay a membership fee (40€ for the calendar year 2025), invoiced later through myClub (likely in September).
Practical info
Used feather shuttlecocks will be used during the training and the coach will provide the shuttlecocks for the training. You also need to bring your own racket, suitable clothes, shoes (indoor sport / badminton shoes, no sneakers or other shoes designed for outdoor use), a bottle of water, and maybe a sweat towel. If you're thinking about what equipment to buy, it is recommended to invest in good badminton shoes before buying the best racket.
