Course description
This course is the continuation of "Competitive Prep I" which was held in Spring 2026. In this course, we will continue to develop the tactics in badminton games as well as strengthening the decision making process in game-like situation. Players provide the topics and areas that they would like to train and the coach will design the program accordingly so that the program will benefit to all participants of the course. Some common and popular areas of development include advanced technical skills, footwork, improved consistency, shot selection, rotation and positioning on court. The target of the course is to develop the ability to read situation in your game play, improve important skills which will be benefited for both casual and competitive players. The course content includes both singles and doubles games.
Targeted players are those who completed basic at least intermediate (Badminton 201-202) or Competitive prep I course or have experiences with tactical decision and want to improve it either in casual or competitive games. Players already know advanced techniques and tactics and you want to improve your game play and prepare for higher levels of your games are also welcome.
Expected learning outcomes: 1) Being fluent in a wide range of techniques and footwork; 3) Gaining the ability to read game situation and make quick decision for shot selection and placement, 3) Develop and strengthen some different tactics in games for both singles and doubles.
Training session structure
A training session includes 3 main activities of which they are equally important and fun: 1) Warm-up; 2) Training; and 3) Games.
The Warm-up will be around 15 mins where players get the body ready and warm. In addition, exercises in the warm-up are strongly supporting the development of motorskills and flexibility which are essential in badminton. The Training (about 45-50 mins) will provide guidance about different themes as mentioned in the course content. The Game (ca. 20 mins) will be the part where players can apply what they have learned in the game.
Course + membership fees
The course will be on every Saturday from 13:30 - 15:00. First session will be on 22 August and the last will be (tentatively) on 05 December.
The course fee will be 100 EUR for Tervasulka members, invoiced through myClub in September-October.
If you are not yet a member of Tervasulka, you will become a member of the club when you register for this group. New members will be charged a one-time joining fee of 15€. Additionally, all members will be required to pay a membership fee (30€ for the calendar year 2026), invoiced later through myClub (likely in September).
Practical info
Used feather shuttlecocks will be used during the training and the coach will provide the shuttlecocks for the training. You also need to bring your own racket, suitable clothes, shoes (indoor sport / badminton shoes, no sneakers or other shoes designed for outdoor use), a bottle of water, and maybe a sweat towel. If you're thinking about what equipment to buy, it is recommended to invest in good badminton shoes before buying the best racket.
